Food trip: Magnum Chocolate Ice Cream

So I've been seeing this poster at 7-Eleven and I am just intrigued with this new Magnum Ice Cream Bar. So on the hottest day ever recorded in the Philippines for 2012, I didn't let the day pass without satisfying my curiosity on this new dessert treat.

Apparently, Magnum has already been popular in other countries but I haven't heard of it 'til I saw the seemingly impossible-to-miss posters at 7-Eleven's entrance door. When I approached the chiller, I was surprised to see not just one, but three variants of Magnum: the Classic ice cream bar, Almond, and Chocolate Truffle.

Since I was craving for chocolate after my satisfying Extra Super Ted's La Paz Batchoy, it was a unanimous decision to choose Magnum Chocolate Truffle. :-)

So I went to the counter, not knowing how much this enticing thingamajig is. To my surprise, it was P60 for one bar. Ok, so no turning back now. I paid for it, hoping that this indulgence is well worth it.

So as I opened my Magnum chocolate truffle ice cream bar, I took one good look of the ice cream bar. It reminded me of "Heaven in a Bar" when I was younger. However, I was expecting more from this - thinking the chocolate should taste like Leonidas, or Patchi even. :P

I closed my eyes as I took my first bite.

When the chocolate reached my taste palette, my doubts have been erased. And as I savored the chocolate ice cream, it just was pure heaven. Indulgence at it's finest. <3

Lovin' my Magnum Chocolate Truffle Bar <3
I like the way the crunch of the chocolate complimented the softness of the chocolate ice cream. Maybe it would have been better if I let the chocolate melt a little bit before eating it. But (as you know I have short patience when it comes to food), I couldn't help but not immediately get a taste of Magnum as soon as I opened it.

The verdict. Definitely worth the P60 I paid for it. Royal indulgence at its finest. I'll try the Classic and Almond bars on another hot day, and will keep you posted on how they taste compared to the divine Chocolate Truffle ice cream bar by Magnum.

Try it for yourself and please do let me know how your Magnum experience went. Enjoy! :-)
