Lunch idea: 7-Eleven Hotta Rice

And I am back. I've been terribly busy with work and KTG (and the episodes of Dongyi just got me hooked so I don't do anything between 10:30-11:30pm unless I have a meeting). I don't even have time to go to the parlor anymore. Not a good sign, I know.

But anyway, I know I owe you a blog on one of the most interesting lunches I've had lately.

I am a big fan of our Menudo, so I am very particular with the taste and texture whenever I come across this fantabulous Filipino favorite. I feel sad when the Menudo is too pale, or it has too much water that it seems like Sinigang. The sauce consistency has to be just right. :)

So as I was struggling to find quality and affordable lunch options within my work area, convenience stores were heaven sent. So I was a frequent customer at 7-Eleven but I have never tried any of their rice meals. And never was it a consideration because I am wary of the taste.

But there was one day when was a customer who ordered Hotta Rice Menudo at 7-Eleven passed by me as I was in line to by my bottled drink and water. The smell immediately got me. And for some reason, since she had to check on something from her phone, she stopped where I was standing and I was able to see what their Menudo looked like. From the smell and looks of it, I have been sold to buy it.

I excitedly hurried back to the office as I couldn't wait to get my hands on my Hotta Rice Menudo. Here are the pictures I took before I dug in.

Disclaimer: The soup noodle you see at the background was not included in my lunch for that day :)

Do not be deceived with the somewhat pale color of the sauce because it was just flavorful. Hotta Rice Menudo was cooked just the way I wanted it to be. The pork was tender and was not hard to chew on, the sauce tasted like good ol' Menudo. I even ate the carrots and the peas because the flavor of the sauce already seeped in - and I don't like veggies so this is a very rare circumstance. And the rice was freshly cooked. It didn't have a hint of commercial flavor. It felt like I am eating our Ate Jenny's Menudo. :)

Peso power: P55. Very affordable without the quality sacrificed. :)

For sure, you'll enjoy Hotta Rice Menudo with your favorite beverage. I chose one of my staples, Del Monte Fit N Right Four Seasons and it complemented my lunch very well. :)

Hope you all had a good lunch. Til next time. :)
